Call for Proposals

The conference brings together a community of scholars from across the country to share evidence-based best practices and a forum to consider and discuss broadening the participation of underrepresented minorities in STEM. LSMCE seeks proposals that demonstrate successful models, programs, strategies that support one or more of the conference themes. We encourage the proposals to incorporate at least one of the themes above plus an iREU/REU, collective impact, mathematics prep/support, or pathways/pipeline.

Session Formats:

Breakout Session  Each session will give the presenter 60 minutes for presenting content and 15 minutes for questions and discussion. Breakout Sessions will be scheduled for Saturday, October 7, times TBD. SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL

Bridge to the Doctorate (B2D) Oral Presentation Session - Are you a current Bridge to the Doctorate student seeking a platform to publicize your research?  Take advantage of this opportunity to share your research with professionals and potential employers.  These highly compact sessions will give Bridge to the Doctorate students 15 minutes to present their graduate STEM research concluding with a 5 minute Q&A. SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL

Student Poster Session - Poster presentations that communicate your undergraduate or Master’s degree level STEM research.  The poster session allows for the visual display of STEM projects and an overview of your research. The poster session will take place on Saturday, October 7, from 10a-12n EDT.  SUBMIT YOUR PROPOSAL

Workshop Session - Interactive workshop sessions lasting 90 minutes will provide participants the opportunity to actively explore a topic, strategy or learn a new activity. This session is meant to have a hands-on component. Anticipated workshop attendance between 30-40 participants. Workshops will be scheduled to run concurrently on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
