Call for Breakout Session Proposals

The Louis Stokes Midwest Center of Excellence (LSMCE) is hosting the fifth annual LSMCE Conference, Take Action: Reaching Deeper into the Nation’s Diverse Pool of STEM Talent, October 6-8, 2017, at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel Keystone at the Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana.

We are currently accepting proposals for the 75-minute breakout sessions (1h presentation & 15 minute Q&A). The audience is faculty, administrators, and other professionals in the STEM/Diversity community.

ALL PROPOSALS MUST BE RECEIVED BY MONDAY, AUGUST 14, 2017, at 11:oo PM EST.

2017 Conference Themes

  • Broadening Participation 
  • Building a Community of Scholars
  • Peer Mentoring 
  • Faculty Mentoring

*We encourage proposals to incorporate at least one of the themes above plus an iREU/REU, collective impact, mathematics prep/support, or recruitment/pipeline aspect.*

What Do Presenters Receive?

Abstracts selected for presentations will receive complimentary conference registration, two nights complimentary lodging at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel at Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis, and a $250 travel award. Award winners will be notified by August 26th via email.
